Phyllotaxis

Phyllotaxis is the pattern resulting from the optimized distribution of leaves, scales, or seeds in vegetables, such as the organization of seeds in a sunflower. This pattern is intrinsically connected with the Fibonacci sequence and ensures, for example, that a plant’s set of leaves receives the greatest amount of sun possible. In architecture, it can guide the informed arrangement of solar panels, for example. But it is most used for product design, for example jewelry.
